A Indian head massage treatment
Mental and physical stress that accumulates every day in our bodies can impair circulation of the vital life fluids to the brain, possibly causing tension, disease, depression and headaches. An Indian Head Massage helps to remove tension from the face, jaw, scalp and neck. It helps to smooth facial muscles and improve circulation to the scalp. It helps to strengthen and mobilize the muscles and tissues of the head, neck, upper spine and shoulders. An Indian Head Massage may be effective in helping to relieve headaches, insomnia, anxiety attacks, eye strain, tinnitus, neck and upper back pain. It is usually regarded as a pleasurable and relaxing therapy and is often received as a beneficial adjunct to foot reflexology. At Concordia, an IHM is conducted seated in a chair. It includes massage of the upper back, shoulders, neck, arms, head, face and ears. I will be working, not only to relieve muscle tension, but also clearing blocks in the many meridian points of the face and head. No oils or creams are used and there is no need to remove clothing other than heavy jumpers etc.
Extended Indian head massage with sound balance
A standard Indian Head Massage may be extended to include a deeper level of work on the whole being using massage and sound healing techniques on the cranium, along the spine and on the sacrum. This will incorporate vibroacoustic balancing work with osteophonic tuning forks and Himalayan singing bowls placed on the body as well as some physical manipulation. This treatment is conducted partly on a massage bed and partly in a chair. No oils or creams are used and there is no need to remove clothing other than heavy jumpers etc. This treatment may take approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
